The 2022 preseason schedule begins next Thursday, August 4 when the Jaguars and Raiders face off at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton during the annual Enshrinement Weekend.
These two teams were selected to play in this opening game for two primary reasons. Former Raiders Cliff Branch and Richard Seymour will be among the inductees into the Hall two days later and former Pro Bowl tackle Tony Boselli will become the first player in Jaguars history to enter the Hall during the same ceremony.
In addition, the game in Canton will be the first for Josh McDaniels as Raiders head coach and Doug Pederson as Jaguars head coach.
The game marks the first appearance for the Jaguars in the Hall of Fame opener since the franchise’s first-ever game in 1995. This game will mark the fourth time the Raiders have played in Canton.
All 32 teams will be in action the following weekend (August 11-14). The complete 2022 preseason schedule is here.
All of us at NFL Alumni recall how important these games were to us at some point in our careers. We wish all our current NFL brothers a safe and successful preseason.
