The Holiday Season begins next week and many of us will  celebrate Thanksgiving with family, close  friends and…have some football as an added guest at the festivities.

Thanksgiving-2021 also is a time to pause and be thankful that now nearly all members of our family are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Earlier this month, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) recommended that everyone age 5 and older receive the vaccine to help protect against the virus.

We at NFL Alumni Health began partnering with the CDC last August and  launched a program featuring Alumni chapters and individual members.  More than 40 alumni, including 15 Pro Football Hall of Famers, are involved in our community outreach and educational campaign to help build confidence in the COVID-19 vaccination and booster shots.

“We are pleased to do our share and work with the CDC,” says Alumni CEO Beasley Reece.  “We hope that the voices of our NFL alumni will inspire people who have not yet been vaccinated –or those who have not yet received a booster shot–to explore their concerns with a health care professional, get the facts, and decide to protect not only themselves but now the younger members of their family as well.”

NFL Alumni chapters across the country—from Northern California to Jacksonville, Florida—recently have participated in events to urge football fans and local citizens to be vaccinated.

Let’s use Thanksgiving this year as a time to encourage our neighbors to speak to their doctors and other trusted professionals and learn the benefits of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.  We are all in this together!

Finally, we at NFL Alumni extend our best wishes to all of you for a safe and healthy Holiday Season!
