NFL alum Tony Boselli has not wasted anytime making an impact in his front office role with the Jaguars.
Boselli, who was named the Jaguars’ Executive Vice President of Football only last year, was appointed last week by Commissioner Goodell to the NFL’s powerful Competition Committee.
The Committee was established in 1968 after the AFL-NFL merger was announced. Its legendary membership since that time has included Hall of Fame names such as Don Shula, Paul Brown, and Tex Schramm. The Committee’s responsibility is to monitor and help shape the rules of the game while also proposing rule changes on an annual basis.
“It is an honor to serve on the Competition Committee and to represent the best interest of the game, the league and the 32 clubs,” the 54-year-old Boselli says. “I look forward to continuing the good work of the Committee as we thoroughly study the game, protect its integrity, and continue to evolve and grow it for future generations of players and fans.”
Boselli was the Jaguars’ first-ever draft choice when they joined the league as an expansion team in 1995. He quickly became the face of the young franchise and started at left tackle for seven years (1995-2001). The University of Southern California graduate became the first Jaguar player to be enshrined in Canton in 2022.
Boselli now joins several other NFL alumni who are members of the Committee. The 49ers general manager John Lynch was added in 2024. Head coaches Todd Bowles (Buccaneers), Kevin O’Connell (Vikings), Sean Payton (Broncos), DeMeco Ryans (Texans), and Mike Vrabel (Patriots) all played in the league before taking charge of their respective teams.
When the Competition Committee meets in person for the first time in at the conclusion of this season, the views of players undoubtedly will be represented with this outstanding group of player alumni studying the issues.
