The Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this month announced that a group of 162 extraordinary alumni has been nominated for possible enshrinement in 2026.
The 162 will be reduced in roster cutdowns during upcoming weeks until only three Senior finalists remain for possible election to Canton. The full Hall of Fame Selection Committee will meet prior to Super Bowl LX and will vote separately on these three individuals. The complete slate of Seniors, Modern-Day Players, Coaches and Contributors will be announced prior to the Super Bowl which will be played in Santa Clara (CA) on February 8, 2026.
The 162 alumni who were nominated as Senior members this year include familiar names such as Doug Williams, Chuck Foreman, Billy (White Shoes) Johnson, and Clay Matthews, Jr. The list also has players from the NFL’s early days such as Lavvie Dilweg (Packers; 1927-34), Charles (Buckets) Goldberg (Packers; 1933-45) and Warren Lahr (Browns; 1949-59).
In order to be classified as a Senior this cycle, alumni cannot have appeared in an NFL game more recently than the 2000 season.
