NFL Alumni Announces Record Field for 42nd Super Bowl of Golf

Famed Mission Hills Course Set to Host Qualifiers from 21 Chapters

Mount Laurel, NJ – September 15, 2022 – A record field of over 150 players will compete for Super Bowl rings and the title of champions in the XLII Super Bowl of Golf, September 23-24 at Mission Hills Resort in Palm Springs, Calif. The championship is conducted by the NFL Alumni Association to raise money for the NFL Player Care Foundation and will include teams from twenty-one regional chapters including the defending champion team from Cleveland, two former championship teams from Northern California and Philadelphia and a first time chapter entry from the Carolinas.

Teams are captained by former NFL players and compete in the 18-hole championship in a Scramble format with the top four teams qualifying for the playoff shootout. Last year at Florida’s Mission Inn, the Cleveland Chapter captained by former Browns and Rams star Frank Stams bested teams from South Florida and the Pacific Northwest in the playoffs.

Mission Hills Country Club in Palm Springs is an Invited property and recognized around the world as the long-time host of the now Chevron Championship, golf’s first major of each year. Earlier this year the LPGA’s Jennifer Kupcho won the title by two shots over Jessica Korda on the Dinah Shore course and took the famous leap into Poppie’s Pond. It will also play host and will play host to the PGA Tour Champions Galleri Classic in 2023.

“We’re thrilled with the record number of chapters competing this year,” said NFL Alumni CEO Beasley Reece, who will compete with the Northern California chapter. “Golf is our leading activity at the chapter level to bring our members together and raise money for Caring for Kids and Caring for our Own.”

Several NFL Alumni corporate partners will sponsor the event led by Integrated Wealth Strategies, RYU Apparel and Defy.  For more information on qualifying for the Super Bowl of Golf or to inquire about sponsorship packages for this and other NFL Alumni events visit nflaagolf.com or email Tournament Director Matthew Schulze at mschulze@pgamagazine.com.
