NFL alum Jackie Harris won his share of awards during a 12-year  NFL career.

However, the Arkansas native’s list of honors only had begun when he ended his career with the Cowboys after the 2001 season.  He had been a fourth-round draft choice of the Packers in 1990 and later played for the Bucs and Titans before two seasons in Dallas.

Harris quickly returned to his hometown of  Pine Bluff after football to finish his undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas campus there.  He graduated in 2005 as a Criminal Justice major and then turned his attention to graduate school.  He obtained a law degree in 2008 from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.

Are you impressed yet?

Harris began his legal career in private law practice and also served as the County Attorney for Jefferson County (AR) as well as City Attorney for Gould in that same state.

Harris, 53,  has been supported during his football & law careers by his wife Letrece.  They have been married for 28 years and have three adult children.  He also has worked in mentoring local youth sports and serves as an administrator at a local youth sports league in  Arkansas.

During his day-job as an attorney, Harris primarily practices in the areas of domestic relations, guardianships,  adoptions, and administrative law matters.

Always looking for a new challenge, Harris last August announced his candidacy for Circuit Judge in the 11th West Judicial District of Arkansas.

“I believe my diverse legal experience and connection to the communities I serve have uniquely prepared me to serve as a circuit judge,” Harris explained when making his campaign announcement.  “I know I always will work diligently for the citizens in my counties and will serve as an impartial, patient, and fair judge if elected.”

NFL Alumni is proud of Harris and all of you who have devoted your post-playing days to legal careers. We have dozens of alumni who now are practicing attorneys.  We also have individuals on the judicial bench such as Judge Dwayne Woodruff (Steelers alum)  in Allegheny County in the Pittsburgh area and Judge Dick Ambrose (Browns alum) in Cuyahoga County which includes Cleveland.

We wish Jackie Harris much success in his bid during the upcoming election in his home state.
