There was a major development yesterday in the ongoing concussion settlement in Philadelphia.
U.S. District Court Judge Anita Brody, who has overseen this case for nearly a decade, issued a Notice regarding a long-awaited agreement involving the race-norming issue that has been a troubling factor for many alumni, especially Black players and their families.
Judge Brody’s Notice stated that both the NFL and parties representing the player plaintiffs had reached an agreement to eliminate any consideration of race in the Settlement Program.
Judge Brody instructed Claims Administrator BrownGreer to circulate her Notice along with relevant exhibits to all player plaintiffs. In addition, she ordered these documents posted on the Settlement Program’s website (www.nflconcussionsettlement.com).
Finally, Judge Brody stated that, if plaintiffs in this case (that includes many of you Alumni members) have any comments, questions, or concerns regarding this proposed race-norming resolution, then you should send an email to Norming@NFLConcussionSettlement.com by January 25, 2022.
We at NFL Alumni will continue to update you on further developments in this ongoing Concussion Settlement.
