The federal judge overseeing the $1 billion NFL concussion settlement in Philadelphia made a significant ruling last Friday (December 8).
U.S. District Court Judge Anita Brody voided all individual contracts that were made between alumni and lenders who had advanced money with high interest rates to the players. The lenders were to be repaid when the players and/or their families received their financial award under the concussion settlement.
Lawyers representing you alumni stated last Friday that they were pleased the court’s decision will protect players from exploitive and sometimes illegal practices.
