In partnership with Advantage Living Centers and Detroit PAL, a special thanks to the NFL Former Players PAF team, the NFL Former Players Detroit Chapter hosted their 5th Annual Turkey Drive on Detroit’s east side. The parking lot of Plymouth United Church of Christ was transformed into an assembly line where community participants, entering on foot or by car, grabbed a pre-packed bag filled with all of the holiday fixings. Each bag included mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce and a turkey in honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
Off the heels of another shutdown for the state of Michigan, it was even more imperative to come together, socially distanced, and giveback to those who are suffering during this season. Metro Detroit has been hit hard from the COVID-19 pandemic, with over 57,000 cases and 3,156 deaths in Wayne County alone.
Detroit Lions Legend Lomas Brown, Stan Edwards, Allen Hughes, event visionary Tim Walton, along with a host of NFL players kicked giving season with the goal of feeding families and connecting the community. Job well done!
A special thank you:
– NFL Former Players PAF Team
– Detroit PAL, CEO of Robert Jamison
– Reginald Harstfield, CEO of Advantage Healthcare
– Reverend Hood, Senior Pastor of Plymouth United Church of Christ
Have a safe and happy holiday season!
