The tournament was one of 23 tournaments to be held nationwide as part of the 2010 NFL Alumni Charity Golf Tour. Each stop on the tour features an 18-hole scramble event with five-man teams captained by NFL Alumni members. Net proceeds from each NFL Alumni tournament are donated to youth-related charities. The Pittsburgh Chapter has chosen Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Holy Family Institute to receive proceeds from its 2010 tournament.

By winning the tournament, Wehrli and his team won an all-expense paid trip to the NFL Alumni's Super Bowl of Golf (SBOG) XXXI, to be held April 30, 2011 at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. His team will compete for the mythic national championship against winning teams from each stop on the 2010 NFL Alumni Charity Golf Tour.

Wehrli, a concensus All-American from the University of Missouri, was a first-round draft pick by the St. Louis Cardinals. He played his entire 14-year career with the team (1969-82) and earned Pro Bowl honors seven times. Wehrli, who was named All-Pro five times, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.
